Summer is the season of...zucchini?

Eating seasonal fruits and vegetables is a great thing to keep in mind when you plan your meals or head to the grocery store. Seasonal produce keeps your grocery bill lower, the nutritional content of your food higher, and the taste factor of your fruits and veggies through the roof.

Summer is a time of light, cooling foods, which sticks to the ideas of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Here's a little reminder (to you and to myself) of what is in season this AUGUST (just a basic list of course):

Artichoke
Asian Vegetables
Avocado
Beans (Green/Wax)
Beets
Bok Choy
Broccoli
Cabbage
Carrots
Cauliflower
Celery
Corn
Cucumber
Eggplant
Leeks
Lettuce
Mushrooms
Onions
Parsnips
Peas (snow)
Peppers
Potatoes
Radicchio
Radishes
Rutabaga
Spinach
Sprouts
Summer Squash
Sweet potatoes
Tomatoes
Zucchini!

Apples
Apricots
Blueberries
Currants
Cherries
Gooseberries
Grapes
Nectarines
Peaches
Pears
Plums
Raspberries
Strawberries
Watermelon

So how about whipping up some Zucchini "Pasta" from Whole Living

Or a little Fruit Bruschetta from Clean Eating
Or even go all the way, and make some cute Watermelon Popsicles!
Happy living,
~Princess

Doesn't summer have the best fruits and veggies? Definitely my favorite time for Farmer's Market visits!
